Patrick Durgin-Bruce,a long time supporter for Ibasho (http://www.ultravirgo.com/studio/founders.html) who also designed Ibasho’s logo, has organized the “For: Maturing/Inside Out Exhibition” where our Ibasho elders’ portraits are also displayed. Thank you so much for spreading the words to people in NYC and more…
We are so grateful for all the inspirational individuals who tirelessly work hard to improve the lives of elders not only in their own country but also to genuinely care about the elders outside of their home countries. Please read the link below and leave your comments to us and Patrick!

Inspirational Portraits of Change-Makers Unveiled on
Hudson Square Building
‘For: Magazine’ brings individuals from around the world who are creating positive social change to New York City’s Hudson Square
New York, NY, October 27, 2017 – For: Magazine today unveiled the Inside Out For: Maturing project at 304 Hudson Street in the Hudson Square neighborhood of Manhattan. The installation features 32 large-scale, black and white portraits of people who are working to improve the lives of others around the world.
Through the exhibition, For: Magazine explores the concept of maturing, of people, societies and ideas, with the passing of time. The project features individuals from around the world who are improving the lives of others, those who have dedicated their lives to peace and human rights, people who preserve the religious or culinary histories of their communities, and individuals who design housing and community gathering places.
For: Magazine will display 32 large-scale portraits of these individuals and members of their communities. Portraits include: a Brazilian religious healer who works with the fluidity of time in the Umbanda spiritual tradition; a Japanese community organizer who builds community centers in collaboration with the elderly in Japan, Nepal and the Philippines; and an anti-ageism activist in the United States. This project gathers the portraits of these inspiring individuals who are from around the world into one place, to highlight their contributions and approaches toward the maturing of bodies, minds, stories and spirits.
“For: Magazine is all about inspiring individuals and the communities they live and work in. We are excited to bring this installation to the Hudson Square area, the community where our agency started, to celebrate people from around the world who are doing amazing things around maturing,” said Katherine Durgin-Bruce, Editor In Chief For: Magazine.
“Inside Out For: Maturing installation that embodies the imaginative spirit of the Hudson Square neighborhood,” said Ellen Baer, President of the Hudson Square Connection. “As part of the Hudson Square Connection’s commitment to fostering creative forms of expression, we are proud to welcome this exhibition to our community.”

ABOUT THE INSIDE OUT PROJECT
Inside Out is a large-scale participatory art project that transforms messages of personal identity into pieces of artistic work. Everyone is challenged to use black and white photographic portraits to discover, reveal and share the untold stories and images of people around the world. These digitally uploaded images are made into posters and sent back to the projectʼs co-creators, for them to exhibit in their own communities.
Posters can be placed anywhere, from a solitary image in an office window, to a wall of an abandoned building, or in a full stadium. These exhibitions will be documented, archived and be made available online at http://www.insideoutproject.net/.
The INSIDE OUT project is a creation of the artist JR, recipient of the 2011 TED Prize (watch JR’s TED talk here).
